Statement of Faith

This is a very brief doctrinal statement that leaves many important issues unaddressed. A more detailed doctrinal statement is forthcomming. Please feel free to contact us with any specific questions.

I. THE BIBLE - We believe the Bible, containing the Old and the New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in its original languages, and that it is the sole authority for personal faith and conduct. II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21.

II. GOD - We believe that there is one true and living God, Creator of Heavens and earth; and that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in divine perfections and exercising distinct but harmonious operations in the great work of redemption. Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:13-17.

III. FALL OF MAN - We believe that man was created by God in His own image and by willful disobedience fell from his high and holy state. Consequently, all mankind are sinners, and by nature utterly void of the righteousness required by God, positively inclined to do evil and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin without defense or excuse. Romans 5:12-19

IV. SALVATION OF MAN - We believe that man is helpless to save himself, and that salvation is a gift of God received solely by faith in the substitutionary work of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who bore our sins in His own sinless body on the cross, thus exchanging places with the believer. I Peter 2:24; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10.

V. THE BELIEVER'S POSITION IN CHRIST

A. We believe that, as a believer is saved by grace, so he is to live by grace, and is therefore not under the bondage of law. Romans 6:14; Galatians 5:1.

B. We believe that the divine relationship established in Christ is as sure as the Person and the promises of the Son of God and the Word of God. John 5:24; 10:27-29; Romans 8:38, 39.

C. We believe that, upon receiving Christ as Savior by faith, the Holy Spirit takes up His residence within the believer and that He never departs. Ephesians 1:13-14; John 7:38, 39; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:3.

D. We believe that sanctification means "a setting apart" unto God in reference to the believer; it is threefold:

1. Positional - The moment a person believes, he is set apart in Christ. I Corinthians 6:11; Hebrews 10:10-14.

2. Progressive - While the believer's standing is perfect in Christ, his state is as imperfect as his walk. He is to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord. John 17:17; II Peter 3:18; II Cor. 3:18

3. Complete - The believer will, at the coming of Christ for His own, be completely set apart; his standing and his state will then be one and identical. I Thessalonians 5:23; I Thessalonians 3:12,13.

VI. THE CHURCH

A. We believe that the local church is a group of called out, baptized believers banded together by covenant for the purpose of worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth, for instruction in the Word of God, for furthering the Gospel around the world, for observing the ordinances, for prayer, and for Christian fellowship. Matthew 28:19; John 4:24; Acts2:42

B. Ordinances - We believe that the ordinances of the church are two:

1. Believer's Baptism, which is the immersion of the believer in water, thus giving testimony that he is identified with Christ. Romans 6:1-5

2. The Lord's Supper, which is partaking by believers of unleavened bread, symbolic of the broken body of Christ, and grape juice, symbolic of the shed blood of Christ. We believe that there is no efficacy in the elements and that the purpose of the Lord's Supper is to show forth His death until He comes. I Corinthians 11:23-26

VII. THE SECOND COMING - We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that it will be in two phases:

A. He will return in the clouds for the Rapture of the Church before the Tribulation Period. I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 3:10

B. He will return visibly to the earth at the conclusion of the Tribulation Period to set up His Kingdom. Revelation 19:16; 20:24
